Fire Retardant Weather Resistant Exterior System

I. DESCRIPTION and SCOPE

The MULTICOAT MULTI-TEX STUCCO SYSTEM ® consists of high build flexible Synthetic Latex emulsion applied to a special non-combustible lightweight autoclaved cementitious wall board. It forms a cost-effective, durable weather-resistant exterior stucco finish wall, installed on wood or steel frame, residential or commercial structures.

The scope of this specification is to describe all materials and installation procedures for the MULTI-TEX STUCCO SYSTEM.

8. Shelf Life: 18 months to 2 years
9. Peel Strength: 5 lb. per linear inch
10. Water Resistance: Excellent - Surface must be dry before application.

III.  SURFACE PREPARATION

Wall board and supporting framework must be structurally sound, and surface must be free from grease, oil, paint, dirt, dust, sealers, laitence, and other foreign materials that may PREVENT PROPER BONDING. Proper expansion joints should be installed according to applicable local building codes. (Recommended: Approximately every 16 feet when wall has no openings.)

IV. APPLICATION

1. STEP 1

Install cementitious wall board panels on existing structure using galvanized nails (wood) or self-tapping ceramic coated screws (steel), 6" centers. Leave minimum 1/8" space between panels (refer to available sketches and manufacturer’s instructions for recommended installation detail). Caulk all joints with polyurethane caulk. Allow caulk to thoroughly cure. Tape all caulked joints with Multicoat elastomeric 3" joint tape. Use 6" joint tape on all corners. Refer to diagrams on Application Specification Flyer.

2. STEP 2

Clean wall board with water-dampened sponge. Leave slightly damp. Immediately apply Multicoat MULTI-TEX STUCCO MIX directly to wall board with trowel or sprayer, and finish to desired texture.

3. STEP 3

Caulk expansion joints after application and cure of MULTI-TEX STUCCO MIX.

NOTE: For installation instruction details, please refer to Application Specifications.

V. WARNING

Do not apply if wall board surface temperature is below 50oF, or over 100oF., if ambient temperature is less than 50oF and falling, over 100oF and rising, or if precipitation or extreme high humidity is expected within a 12-hour period.

VI. WARRANTY
