Spray one (1) heavy coat or roll two (2) coats of MULASTICOAT® BG 2000 over area to be waterproofed at a coverage rate of 35-45 sq. ft. per gallon. ROLLING: use a 3/4″ nap roller and saturate the roller completely. Heavy coats are recommended. Use a mil thickness gauge to ensure achievement of at least two 20 mil coats. SPRAYING: use an airless paint sprayer, any grade will do. For peak performance, use a .025″ – .027″ spray tip. An easy way to achieve the right coverage when spraying is to mark off a 200 sqft area and use an entire 5 gallon bucket to cover that marked area.

Over 2.5 galvanized metal lathe in a staggered pattern over the entire plywood/OSB surface overlapping the metal flashing to the edge of the deck surface. Mix MULTI-BASE per instructions on the bag and pour over the metal lathe. Trowel onto the deck covering the metal lathe and allow to dry completely.

MULASTICOAT® is then applied over entire surface in two (2) coats with roller, using firm pressure. Embed POLYESTER STITCH BOND FABRIC in the first coat while wet over all flashings. First coat is considered “dry” when dry to the touch which is usually 1-2 hours depending on ambient temperature. The second coat is applied crisscross to the first coat. Broadcast silica sand over wet material to promote mechanical bonding to the following protective decorative finish. After product has dried for a minimum of 24 hours, or longer for cold weather, brush off lose sand before applying a decorative wearing surface.

Apply Krete Kote or Top Coat in 2 steps: a base coat, and a texture coat. Apply a smooth thin layer with a trowel, sprayer or magic trowel and allow to dry. Then apply a texture on top top desired aesthetic look.

Apply the diluted COLORSEAL with nap roller for the 1st coat with very firm pressure. (1/2” nap roller for smooth and 3/4” nap roller for rough surfaces). Allow a minimum of one (1) hour to dry. For the 2nd coat, apply at full strength. Airless sprayers may be used for the 2nd and final coat. Allow final coat a minimum of 24 hours before placing area into use. Will fully cure in 14 days, during which care should be exercised against excessive abuse.
Q: Can Wood Multi-Deck be applied over my existing waterproofing?
A: No, it is best practice to remove an old, failing system before applying a new waterproofing system such as The Multi-Deck System – Wood Substrates.
Q: Can I skip the lath and Multi-Base steps and apply the waterproofing directly to the wood surface?
A: No, the lathe and the Multi-Base restrict the movement of the deck and provide more structure to the surface. It is necessary to fight thermal expansion and contraction and gives an added fire resistance to the system.
Q: Is Multi-Deck expensive?
A: Comparing different systems on the market, Multi-Deck is a very cost effective option for waterproofing your deck. Call us today to locate a Certified Applicator near you.
Q: How do you bridge expansion joints and wall/floor 90º joints?
A: We recommend embedding a material called Polyester Stitch Bond Fabric into the first coat of BG2000 to act as a reinforcement material for high movement areas. It is an inexpensive way to ensure security and rigidity in areas that may be subject to extreme movement over time.

Q: Is this fish friendly?
A: Yes. Allow material to dry 7 to 10 days prior to filling with water. After filling, run circulation pumps/filters followed by a light brushing to remove any surface containments prior to adding fish. Longer dry time will be required for interior applications.
Q: Can I add colorant to the POND KOTE?
A: Yes as long as you mix the colorant with the water prior to adding the dry mix to it. You should not mix the colorant in after it has been mixed with water.
Q: Do I have to strip off any old material from the substrate?
A: Yes, we recommend approximately 92-100% removal of all old coatings prior to the application of this system.
Q: Can I just use the MULASTICOAT as a patch for my existing pond? I only have a few spots that are leaking.
A: No. MULASTICOAT creates a uniform membrane and is not designed to be a “universal” material that can bond with any coating.
