Coverage:

35 SF/Gallon applied at a coverage of 60 mil wet.

Application & Use:

SURFACE PREPARTION: Substrate must be structurally sound, free from grease, oil, paint, dirt, dust, sealers. Laitance, curing compounds, and any other foreign material which may prevent proper bonding. When applying to cementitous surface, that surface must be fully cured. Concrete slabs and mortar beds should have a coarse finish to assist in bonding. When applying Lightweight Cement the substrate must have a minimum of 2,000 psi compressive strength. Must be dry and properly cured. If cracks are present, fill with quick setting, non-shrinking mortar prior to application of GREEN BARRIER. For applications over concrete that is less than 28 days old, the use of Multicoat’s Vapor Shield is recommend to speed the curing and installation process and to help reduce negative side pressure.

MIXING: Hand stir GREEN BARRIER until a uniform green color is present.

APPLICATION: While wet, GREEN BARRIER is a light green color. Once applied the dark green color will be your indicator that the material has dried and is ready for the next phase. The color change may take 1 to 2 hours to occur. Application is achieved by using a 3/4” nap roller. In all corners, apply a generous amount of GREEN BARRIER a minimum of 8” in both directions and immediately embed and smooth out Multicoat’s stitch bond polyester fabric mesh to create a flashing detail. Let this dry for several minutes then apply another saturating coat over top to completely cove the fabric and allow to dry to a dark green color. The gap in the corners should not be greater than 1/16”. If greater than 1/16”, pre fill with a non shrinking fast setting mortar. Drains should have the clamp ring with open weep holes for thin set applications. Apply GREEN BARRIER to the bottom of the flange, and the flange should be fully supported with no movement and should be level with the plane of the floor. Apply GREEN BARRIER around the drain and immediately embed a piece of 12” x 12” stitch bond polyester fabric into the wet material and insure it does not cover the weep holes. Allow to dry a few minutes and apply another coat over the mesh area. The use of a silicone caulk around the flange where it makes contact with the membrane is recommended. After the corners and drain detail are dry, apply a full coverage coat over the entire area, achieving a mil coverage of at least 45 mils. Once fully dry (dark green color is your indicator) inspect for pin holes or thin areas and apply a second coat at a right angle to the first coat. When small gaps are present, such as the gap between cement board, use the same polyester fabric to span this joint. Always follow all local building codes when applying this product.
